When purchasing a home, there are four costs you need to consider.

1. Your inspections. These costs are optional, but I highly encourage that you get an inspection no matter what the condition of the house appears to be. Home inspections, termite inspections, and even well inspections can all help you ensure that you’re truly getting what you’re paying for. A typical home inspection will probably cost about $300, so make sure you have these funds set aside.
2. Earnest money deposit. These funds are good faith money. Earnest deposits will let the seller know that you’re serious. Generally in our area, these funds will be between $500 and $1,000. You’ll also need to consider closing costs in general. Discuss this with your lender to get a good idea of what you can expect

There are a number of miscellaneous expenses you shouldn’t forget as you make the move into your new home.

3. Moving costs. Whether you’re moving locally or across the country, there will be some expenses associated with this process. The costs for gas, a moving van, and more should all be taken into consideration.
4. Additional costs. There are a number of miscellaneous expenses you shouldn’t forget as you make the move into your new home. Cable fees, septic transfer fees, and more should all be accounted for.
